▲ Cnltrri States M»r»h»l And the Leader of the Uang Killed.Guthrie, 0. T., Aug. SB.—Ed Short, deputy United States marshal, and Charles Bryant, the leader of the Dalton gang of train robbers, are dead. Saturday Short obtained information of the whereabouts of Bryant. Fifty miles northwest of here he bagged his game. He arrived in Hennessy at 4 o'clock and left there Sunday afternoon for Wichita with his prisoner. On the train at Wau-komis, a small station in the Cherokee strip, a rescue hi Bryant was attempted by other memlers of the Dalton gang, with the result above stated. Muc h excitement prevails here over the killing of Short and the daring actions of the outlaws.
