A recommendation wasmade, however, that flies in the kitchen be killed. As to the benches from which theinmates eat, the committee believesthat these are as clean as could beexpected. The cells, too. including bedding, were found to be in goodDr. Price was wrong, theshape. lr. Price wa wrong, committee said,in saying that closets t re out of condition. One closet outof six was out of condition when Dr.Price called and that has since beenrepaired, according to the report. It is admitted that the plumbing in the old section of the building is bad, butthe committee declares thatmoneywas not available to put in better appliances.A denial is made that thereis anycontamination of the beef supply, cattle being butchered on the farm. The fact that Dr. Price found no vermin is sufficient proof that general conditions are clean, according to the committee and it is pointed out that new prisoners are constantly coming in. Prisoners are given clean clothingweekly and a hath must he taken oncea week. The committee says that the managers will consider the question ofcreening the entire institution butthe cost will be large.
