Humphrey D. Wolfe, James c. Tawes and Oliver S. Metze-rott, comprising the committee, went to the institution yesterday morning and were accompanied by Superintendent W. E. Lankford on their tour ofinspection.Every part of the institution hadbeen inspected by 1 o'clock —the dinner hour—when each member of thecommittee tasted some of the foodprovided for the prisoners. The inmates looked on in amazement as thevisitors partook of the rations. The committee declared in unison that themeal was as good as many working people have in their homes.Prisoners who had been incarceratedfor several months were weighed by the members of the committee and in each case it was found that the prisoner had gained in flesh since entering the institution.
