Romeo, Canton, O., Bank Rob-; ber, Found Guilty InDeath of Bank Guard*CANTON, lt;., Aug. 23—While James Romeo, 29, sat in county jail here today domed to death in the electric chair for the murder of Charles H. Riblet, 68-year-old bank guard who was shot July 16 in a $60,000 bqnk messenger robbery, attorneys for the men weremaking preparations to file a motion for a new trial.Romeo was found guilty by a jury of six men and six women late yesterday on charges of shooting m perpetrating a robbery. The jury, which deliberated two hours and 40 minutes, made no recommendation for mercy.The death sentence will be imposed upon the doomed man Monday, according to County Prosecutor James M. Aunges. Defense atorneys declared following the jury's decision that they would carry the case to higher courts in an effort to save Romeo from the electric chair,Romeo admitted under cross examination that he had taken the $60,000 robbery loot to his hotel room. He denied any part m the holdup, however.
