METING JTJUSTICEIn the Police Court,OIIN ANDERSON, aged 23, sailor ofthe Red Rose, of Norway, up fordrunken ness, received his discharge. liesaid that he had been assaulted by a rigger named Windsor, of this city, with a marl in-spike. He was attended by Dr.Bunting. Patsey Oliver, a youth of 13years, was arrested and brought to court bn the accusation of the larceny, on the 22nd instaut, of a coat, belonging to Jno. Connolly, valued at $1.50. It was taken from the football grounds of St. Bona-venture College while the boys wereplaying. The accused pleaded guilty and was remanded for eight days. Mary Ivey was thccomplainaut in a case against John Ryall forAssaalt oil the 19th lust.Defendant was fined #5 or fourteen days. Elizabeth He fieri n brought an action for a similar ofleuce against Henry Kodgcr, committed on the 19th instant. In thiscafe Henry pleaded that he took off his boot when administering the kicking, it being a well recoguized tiling iu the out-ports that the law can't come at one for assault when the boot is oil. Ilis Honor, whilst admiring the ingenious explanation, thought that it was 44 bad law” and imposed a fine of 92 or 7 days. Messrs.
