—Chicken thieves paid a brief bnt highly successful visit night before last to the residence of John H. Lowell on the Tuttle road in Saco. As a result of the raid, Mr Lowell is now minus about a dozen of hie handsome, full-blooded Brahmas that were at once hie pride and the wonder of his friends, on account of their immense size, Mr. Lowell has long been noted as possessing the largestrooster for miles around and he, too, turns up among the missing. The work was evidently that of professionals, for the fowls had all been killed and bled on the premises. Two or more were concerned in the affair, for the evidence remains where one of them watched the house while the others performed their work. The coop was unlocked, and the robbers will undoubtedly be chagrined to learn that they needlessly took the pains to cot out the hinges of the door, which was simply kept closed by an old disused padlock. Mr. Lowell's place is only one of several in that vicinity that have been visited in a like manner this summer.
