McMas-. ter Duer remarked.Hodgman said he saw no provisions for water on either trip.Mrs. Becky Wright, 34, who followed Hodgman to the stand, said she and her husband were buying six to 10 bales of hay a week for the ponies as well as providing feed, purchased at a mill* in Delmar. Water was also on hand, she said. Mrs. Wright also testified that Dr. L. E.- Johnson of Pocomoke City had treated the animals, and all the remaining horses were now standing.Prior to purchasing the. ponies this spring, they had owned one during the winter, which •died. But the animal “was sick %vhen we bought him,” she told Judge Duer. “Why do you buy sick animals?” he asked.• The testimony of Mr. Wright, 32, echoed much of his wife’s. They had provided food, water and veterinary treatment for the animals, he said. And he also said he believed that the dead pony had been poisoned, and the other suffered from collic.Judge Dutr asiked Deputy Hodgman to contact Dr. Johnson as well as the outlets where the Wrights said they were purchasing feed for the animals to obtain additional information. The case was continued. The Wrights were represented b y public defender R.
