Aug. 20.—A Mexican, partially identified as Pedro Momirez, wanted in connection with a slaying last week at Oxnard, Calif., shot and killed Sheriff E. G. McMartin. of Ventnra county and fatally wounded Under sheriff fwmitam n Keflly of. Oxndrd at Owensmouth, Los Angela county, today. The Mexican killed himself when surrounded by pursuers. Kelly died about two hours afterhe was shot.McMartin and Kelly came to Owensmouth this morning in search of Romirez and Juan Du- re rando, said to have been concerned it in the slaying of Justo Garcia at Oxnard.They said they liad been informed the men had been boarding at the home of Mrs. Valentine Valada in Owensmouth. Mrs. Va-lade told them two men answer-' ing the descriptions of Romirez and Durando had a room, in her house, but she did not know if they were in.Find Door Locked.The officers went to the room y | indicated, and found the door locked. When they attempted to force their way in, several shots were fired through the door and both fell.
