Guarded by a picked squadof federal agents carrying automatic shotguns, the prisoners wereplaced in two specially built screened and barred railroad cars andstarted on their wav to Alcatrazthe island prison fortress designedfor convicts considered too dangerous to he kept in ordinary prisons.Although federal authorities main-lained a tight-lipped silence aboutreports the former Chicago gangeader was being sent to the PacificDoast prison, his presence in the?roup was established by newspaper* fTien when the convict cars arrived clere.When the two cars were stopped 1’or a change of trains, a prisoner, £1a ho strongly resembled Capone justgrinned when someone called:“Is that you, Al?” jWhile the cars waited to he fer-j*ied across the Mississippi river the truards kept the curious at a dis- (ance but newspapermen got with-nn hailing distance.14 iIs Al Capone in there?” one•ailed out.One prisoner nodded his head andrelied back: 1 (“In this car, by the sixth window.” !.The occupant of window No. 6 lt;ooked just like the ex-gang lord.
