DEATH OF PRIEST AND SCHOOL TEACHER FURNISH MYSTERYNEW HAVEN, Conn., Aug. 20.—(/P)~The death of a priest anda public school teacher whosebody was found jn the parishhouse presented a problem to police today as they sought to determine whether the couple died from other than natural causes.Rev, Joseph P. Cournoyer, 43, pastbr of St. Louis Roman Catholic Church since 1919, was found dead in. his automobile last night several hours* after the body of Miss Lavina Moran, 39, was discovered in a bedroom of the parish house.Although expressing himself as convinced no third party was involved, Coroner Janies J. Corrigan declined to disclose the results of autopsies.Father Cournoyer, a native of Canada, was last seen Wednesday when he drove his two sisters, who were leaving for a vacation, to the rail station. Neighbors, believing he also had left for a vacation, felt no alarm when he failed to report Thursday and Friday to celebrate masses. .Father Cournoyer was found seated at the wheel in his automobile parked in a garage in the rear of the parish house. Officials said the ignition had been turned on, the gasoline supply was low and the battery almost dead. The garage doors wereclosed.The death of the Rev. Mr. Cournoyer was attributed to car-iibon monoxide poisoning today by Coroner James J. Corrigan.The coroner declined to state, 'however, whether the 43-year-old priest died accidentally while seated in his automobile, and announced an autopsy on Miss Moran's bodv had not been completed. He also declined vto say whether he believed the deaths were linked.
