Cleveland’s Torso MurdersDiscovery of the bodies of the 11th and 12th- vic-tima of Cleveland’s torso slayer emphasizes the fact that this surgically skilled maniac slayer is still at i large and Is perhaps even now contacting his nextvictim.The first of the so-called torso murders was discovered three years ago. Since that time the bodies of 11 more victims; each dismembered with the skill of an. expert surgeon, have been, found. Seven men and five women, have been slain by the maniac.Police have been handicapped In their investigation by their inability to Identify the majority of the victims and the absence of a known motive for the killings. The earlier victims whose identity was finally disclosed came from the lower social strata ■n* in no instance was there anything In their known records that would Indicate a motive fortheir removal by death.From time to time suspect* have been arrested but there was never anything to connect them with the killings and they were released while the killer continued to add to his list of victims.The torso murders are a challenge which the police department of Ohio's largest city must answer.
