The defendant,Willie Klieker, is a Russian Jew, and so is his father-in-law, Morris Cohen. Klieker is hardly thirty years old. He came to America three months ago, and drifted into Connersville. He met Fanny Cohen, the pretty, v_ sixteen-year-old daughter or Morris Cohen, and married her. Some of the incidents to the match were little to the liking of her parents. ey fTliey were the more displeased when rumors came to their ears that Klick-er had a wife and children in Rus-llfjsia. The father of the girl sought officers of the Jewish Federation of the United States, in Indianapolis, and through them obtained, it is charged, the information that Klick-er, when he landed, under the auspices of the Federation, in New York, registered as having .a wife and three children in the Province of Peterhoff, Russia. It is upon this alleged information that the charge has been organized.Klieker can hardly speak Englisli at all. Cohen speaks it with difficulty. So Mayor Braun was called in, as interpreter, and the German language, interspersed now and then with a ragged ejaculation in Russian as the agitated defendant and his wrought-up father-in-law confronted each other, made a scene and a series of sounds not easily forgotten.Klieker told Mayor Braun that he had been married in Russia, but had left his wife. He was remanded to jail, under bond, and it was uncertain about his release. The trial will be next Tuesday. The Jewish Federation has an interest in the case, and may have representatives here when the trial is held. Klieker married the Cohen girl a few days ago, and moved with her to Indianapolis.
