Mr* Julian At Home—Murder at Mancie*Correspondence of the IndinapoliB Journal.. Munch, Ian., August 16, 1864.Hon. George W. Julian, Union candidate for Congress in the “Burnt” district,, addressed a very large audience of our people in Walling's Hall, at this place, last 8atorday. His speech was an able expose of the corruption ana disloyalty of the Copperhead leaders. Many persons who have heretofore acted and voted with the Copperhead faction were convinced by Mr. Julian’s speech that Jo. McDonald A Co. will ruin the Government if placed in power. The disaffection heretofore existing in our ranks, arising from the opposition to Mr. Julian, is entirely dispelled, and we will have harmony. Our majority in Delaware will be greater thanit has been heretofore.A cold-blooded murder was committed in our streets, on Tuesday night of last week. IsaacHughes, a diccharged soldier, who lost an arm in the service of his country, wss shot by a young man named James* W. Davis, withoutany provocation that might in 1 garcfed as sufficient to justify thethe least be react.Young Hughes, in an altercation between him ana the rather of Davis, struck the fether, not inflicting even a severe flesh wound. Young Dffvh followed Hughes, and, after mature -de-libeifctkm, shot him with a pistol. He deliberately placed it against the foes of Hughes, whodays and aiea. uavis nas not yc ed. He is a Copperhead, and when last heard from was being concealed and harbored bv the Copperheads ox Blackford county. He informed ms protectors of Blackford that he had shot a d—d Lincoln hireling in self-defense.Our county Commissioners have offered five hundred dollars reward for his arrest. He is the sou of Joseph M. Davis, hotel-keeper of this city, and this is not his first attempt at murder. Bn.
