VJ Mitchell said his brother's full name was Ledson Edward Mitchell. Their mother is Mrs. Stella Burkhart, who lives at Racine. Ledson Edward Mitche’ was I 43 years old and he is surviveJ liv his mother, the brother, and four sisters. Hq was born at Galena, Kan., the brother told ClRrence V. Beck, county attorney, and had never married.C, V. Mitchell said he had last seen his brother on duly 2. The brothers had lived together at Grain Valley for a year previous to the date early in July when Ed” MitcheU had gone to southern Missouri to visit relatives. Racine, the home of Mrs. Burkhart, is 14 mPss south of Joplin. The slain man's father is buried at Racine.C. V, Mitchell said he knew that his brother had served time in the penitentiary for bank robbery. He could tell officers nothing about the events which led to the gun battle east of Emporia. C. V. MitcheU said he did not know and never had heard of Ike Youtsler and Tom Finn, the two Joplin ex-convicts, who were killed with his brother. The trio opened fire on five patrolmen as the state officers sought to question them on a lonely township road. The officers had been searching the countryside for three men they believed were preparing to rob the State Bank of Lebo.County to Send Body.C. V. Mitchell said members of his brother's family had no funds with which to take the body to Racine. Beck then offered to send the body to Racine if the Mitchell family would arrange for burial. The brother promised to go to Racine and make these arrangements. The county also must pay undertaking expenses at Emporia, but Beck hopes to obtain financial aid from the state highway department.C. V. Mitchell drove to Emporia with a brother-in-law, M. Green, who also lives near Grain Valley. 40 miles east of Kansas City.The bodies of Youtsler and Finn were claimed by their widows.
