Deputy Sheriff Royce Cline’s Murderer At Harrisburg Surrendered By Father—Arrest Announced At Funeral.IIIHARRISBURG, ILL., August 16.—Isaiah “Zebe” Taborn, negro slayer of Deputy Sheriff Royce Cline, has been captured by SheriffJohn Small of Saline county and%is now being taken to a neighboring county for safekeeping. Mob violence is feared here.The capture of Taborn ended asixty-hour hunt for the murderer. He crept up on Cline and Deputy Silas Rude in a dense thicket near Carrier Mills, seven miles south of here. Friday morning and emptied the full charge of a shot ;an Iin Cline’s face. Cline died in a1local hospital throe hours later.Hundreds in Posse i Since then Saline County has been combed by hundreds of officers and volunteers. The search ended about 1:30 o’clock this afternoon, when Josiah Taborn, father of the murderer, who is 45, sentword to Sheriff Small and the posse who had the Taborn farm surrounded, that if his son was promised protection he would surrender him to the officers. This was promised and the negro came out of a dense thicket and walked over to the Sheriq and surendered.Sheriff Small left immediately, for an unknown county with his prisoner.The funeral of the slain officer was in progress at Harrisburg and word was sent to the presiding minister, the Rev. W. H. Whitlock, that the negro was then in custody.The crowd was the largest that ever attended a funeral in this county. Masons had charge, but klansmen from Saline. Williamson. Hamilton, Franklin, Gallatin and White counties were present.Rev. Whitlock said: “I desire to inform you that the slayer of this brave officer, who we are now putting in his last resting place, is in the hands of the law'. Sheriff Small desires me to ask everybody to give him co-operation in keeping order and to let the law take its course in this affair.”The body of Cline was buried inthe Masonic Cemetery at Raleigh.
