DON BANDFIELD MURDlt;Former Goshen Merchant, Shotin Pennsylvania.BULLET ENTERED HIS CHESTArthur Gonllncr, the Slayer, Committed the Crime July 5th Last-Bat Few Particulars Sent Here.From Friday’s DailyC. Don Baudfield, the well known former Goshen merchant, who came here several years ago and purchased the T. L. Stultz grocery, on Lincoln avenue and who afterwards conducted the Goshen Chop House in the building occupied by O. V. Walker, was murdered at Austin, Pennsylvania, a town of about 2,000 inhabitants in Potter county, Jul^y 5th last, but the first information of the tragedy reached here last night, when Mrs. Nathan Thomas received a letter Jfrom Miss Sadie Forman in which she related the death of her step-father. Miss Forman did not furnish many details, simply saying Mr. Band field was shot and killed by Arthur Gordiner. He was shot through the chest, the bullet glancing downward and. passing through one of the arteries just above the heart and then entered the left shoulder. What brought ui the trouble is not stated. Mr. Band field was about 40 years of age aud his family consisted of his wife and three children. During the latter part of his career here he had considerable trouble and took to drink. He at one time tried to committ suicide. He will be remembered as a tall, light haired man. He went direct from Goshen to Pennsylvania about three years ago and it was announced he was working in a mill there. Further particulars of the murder are expected here soon.
