Indianapolis police were continuing an investigation into the* murders of a former Evansville physician and his wife,, whose bodies were found thepast Thursday in their ransack-. ed apartment. According to the Associated Press, the bodies oi. Dr. Earle V. Robinson, 71, and his wife, Gwendolyn, 69, were discovered after a relative who lived at the same building as the couple was unable to contact the pair by telephone. Police report the bodies were badly' beaten and stabbed in their luxury apartment.Robinson, who had practiced medicine since 1939, left Evansville in 1965 to join the clinical staff of the Veterans Administration Regional Office in Indianapolis. Robinson main -talned an office in Evansville from 1942 - 1965 at 615 Belle-meade Ave. He was on the medical and surgical staffs of St. Mary’s and Deaconess Hospitals and worked with numerous civic organizations. His activities Included participation in the Red Cross, NAACP, Carver Community Center, Vanderburgh Couhty Cancer Association and Well BabyClinic.Survivors Include two sons.Bruce, of Bloomington Ind.,and! Earle Jr., an obstetrics and ' genecology specialist in Indianapolis. Private services were held the past Monday at Summers Funeral Home In Indianapolis, with burial in Crown Hill Cemetery.
