OFFICERS MAKEDeForce Trails Trio To White Rose Oil StationThree youths from-Sioux City came to LeMars yesterday with the intentions of getting rich quick, but were soon behind the bars in the county jail due to the quick thinking- and work of Officers M. H. DeoFrce and Joe Sutton.Officer DeForce spotted the car earlier in the evening, driving around the streets. He said at first they eyed Leo Hoffman’s beer parlor. DeForce took the police car and started trailing.About midnight the car made a trip to the White Rose oil station, operated by Dick Nicholson. DeForce went around the block to stay behind the men. After the car parked near the oil station, DeForce went back to the city building to get Officer Sutton. The latter hid in an empty house while DeForce waited nearby.Two of the prowlers went to the oil station and gained entrance by removing a screen. Unable to get into' the main part of the station where the money was kept, they left for their car. Officer Sutton saw them coming and flashed his light to DeForce. The two officers met the men at the car and placed them under arrest. Sheriff Frank Scholer also assisted In the arrest.Those arrested about 12:30 are Joe Johnson, 17, and William Fisk, 1I8, both of Sioux City. About daybreak Officer DeForce picked up Jack Olson, 17, also of Sioux City. He was a member of the gang and was looking for his pals at the time of the arrest, police said.A .32 calibre revolver was found in the robbers’ car.Johnson, Fisk and Olson entered written pleas of guilty before County Attorney E. P. Murray and Sheriff Frank Scholer this morning. The charges were breaking and entering., The youths also admitted several other breakins in Sioux City recently.Sheriff Scholer said this morning that they would be taken before Judge Rodman some time this week at which time sentence \yould be imposed.V-' .*«. i'. \v.nnntiTi/
