Stone, 33, of Fort Meade, Md., was visiting at the home of his estranged wife, Joyce Stone, 25, at route 2, Lumberton, when difficulties arose between the two about 4:30 a.m. Sunday.Deputy Freeman said five shots were fired from a .25 calibre automatic pistol by Stone into his wife’s chest. He then was said to have turned the gun on himself and fired four shots into his own chest.These occurrences were reported to have been in the yard of J. C. Kinlaw after an encounter of words at the houseof Geneva Wilkins.The incident was reportedly witnessed by a small son, about 7 or 8 years old.The funeral for Stone will be conducted at 3 p. m. Tuesday in Biggs Funeral chapel with full military honors, and burial will be in New Hollywood cemetery.
