HEADY SAYS HAN THREW WHISKEY OUTi- Of His Cax When He Stopped Him on the Road—Held For Circuit Court Under $1,000 Bond.Deputy Sheriff W. S. Heady of Went/.ville, was in town Saturday on business and reported having stopped two men, Lawrence Kode and Floyd Fake, on the concrete road this side of Went/.ville last Friday. Heady says he and his son Preston were driving towards Went/.ville east of the viaduct following a car and he noticed the ear had no rear license tag on it. The car ahead turned off the concrete onto the gravel road and he. said he then told Preston to drive fast up the concrete and cut the ear off in town. They did so and about the time the car stopped he heard glass break and discovered that Kode had thrown a bottle of whiskey out and broke it, “Rather than have the officer find it in the car,’’ according to the opinion of Heady. He says he placed Kode under arrest on two charges, one for having intoxicating liquors in his possession and the other for driving a ear without a state license. Fake was not arrested. Kode was taken before Justice Bornhop and held for the circuit court under a bond of $1,000 which he gave and was released.
