He was taken to the Lynn hospital with a terrible wound on the back of his head, in which a number of stitches were taken.Hennessey says that he came to Lynn Lonight and drank considerable liquor. It was nearly midnight when he started to walk to his boarding house in Saugus, the last car having gone. When near Butman’s mills on Summer st he noticed that two men were standing on the bridge, but thought nothing furtherof it.As he was passing them, one threw his arms around Hennessey and demanded his money, making the threat thar they would kill him if he did not give it at once. He was thrown to the ground, and one of the men struck him on the head with a stone.
