ECKFIELD BOUND OVER..Eloped with Mrs, Walzer, of Canal Fulton. ICanton, Aug. 12.—Georg© Eckfield, who eloped from Canal Fulton some I weeks ago with Mrs.. Walzer, wife of Hotelkeeper Joseph Walzer, had airearing before Probate Judge Aungst, Tuesday morning. He had made ap* plication for his release, owing to the fact that the case against Mrs, Walzer had been dismissed, claiming that he had not taken the money, but that it was taken by Mrs. Walzer. Prosecutor Day handled the case on the part of the state, and at its conclusion the judge decided that Eek-field was guilty of grand larceny, inasmuch as he had eloped with the woman and had the money in his possession. While the mere taking of a husband’s money by the wife constitutes no offense, the judge held that the law says that where money is taken in this way that an offense has been committed and for that reason Eekfield was remanded to- jail to await the action of the grand jury. Bail was fixed at $500.
