Dick Gregory Is Held For March On PrisonREIDSVILLE, Ga (AP)— Comedian Dick Gregory and six other civil rightsmarchers remained in custody Sunday after their arrest for violating a court order in their protest of prison conditions The seven were arrested with 59 others Saturdaywnight after they crossed a bridge about 1.000 yards from the main gate of the Georgia State Prison near Reidsville Superior Court Judge James E Findley had issued a restraining order prohibiting them from entering the prison .All were released on their own recognizance, but Gregory and six others wererearrested when thev at-wtempted to cross the bridge a few'hours later A hearing for the seven was tentatively scheduled for Monday afternoon, said Deputy Sheriff J W Wingate of Tattnall CountyHe said thev refused bond.Wingate said those arrested had been transferred to undisclosed nearby county jails because of a murder trial scheduled Monday in Tattnall County He said everything was quiet” Sunday A spokesman for the protesters, Tyrone Brooks, said most of the group of about 100 marchers had gone home but would prepare plans for another march on the prison next weekend The protesters began their 00-mile march Mondav fromVSavannah in an effort to have the state prison closed down In addition, they arecalling for the end to the death penalty and the dismissal of murder charges against six black inmates accused of killing a white guard and two white inmates during a riot in July of 1978 at the state prison
