GIRL, MOTHER ARE HELD FOR GRAND JURORSLloyd Close, Suspected As Parent, Not Considered At The Inquest.« * •Arabella Glass, 23, of Markleys-burg and her mother, Mrs. Hazel Hall, were held for action of the grand jury by the verdict of a coroner's jury this morning charging the pair with the criminal exposure of a new-born infant, causing . death.Lloyd Close, 35, who said he might be the father of the child, although he wasn't sure, was not . considered by the jurors.Private John E. Gefctier who with Private H. M. Jaynes conducted the investigation, said' that as far as could be learned, the crippled alleged father had not been to the Hall home since Sunday.Private Gettier related the sequence of events in the investi- | gation for the jury. He told how he had received a call from Deputy Coroner Tony Rendine on Wednesday evening.. August 11, telling of the finding of the body. The body was recovered by Charles H. Humbert. undertaker.Arabella Giass, Gettier said, admitted before witnesses that she was the mother of the infant and that it had cried. The child, she said, was born in an outhouse on the Hall property and had lived for half an hour.The grandmother, officers said, reported that she had assisted with the birth and the disposal of the infant in the outside toilet.Dr. C. W. Frantz of Confluence performed a post mortem on the body and determined that the infant had breathed and had died from exposure.Mrs. Hall was arrested Thursday when officers made a second trip to the Markleysburg scene.On the recommendation of Coroner S. A. Baltz, the young mother was removed from the Union townpolice station yesterday afternoonto the Uniontown hospital, to safeguard her health against- any possible ill effects due to lack of proper i care following the birth.
