Homicide suspected in case of body found in Mercer□□□‘We are waiting for the report from the Medical Examiner’s office before we release the identity of the victim.’— Timm BoggessMercer County Prosecuting AttorneyBy BILL ARCHERBluefield Daily TelegraphSPANISHBURG — Investigators are still not releasing the identity of the female’s body found Tuesday afternoon in a wooded area near the Bluestone River off of the Gardner Road in Mercer County.However, Mercer County Prosecuting Attorney Timm Boggess said the case is now being investigated as a homicide.“We are waiting for the report from the Medical Examiner’s office beforewe release the identity of the victim,” Boggess said. “All I can say is that it is now being investigated as a homicide.” Troopers with the West Virginia StatePolice found the woman’s body near the river after receiving tips and following evidence to the location where the woman’s body was found. Cpl. A.PChristian of the Princeton Detachment, West Virginia State Police characterized the condition of the body as being “deteriorated,” according to published reports.State Police from the Princeton an Welch detachments are jointly investigating the case. McDowell County authorities have been searching for a woman who was reported missing on Aug. 6, but state police investigators did not confirm if there was a connection between the search and the woman’s body found Tuesday, according to published reports.
