statement, it was stated today that loose corn was lying on the ground in the vicinity of where the shooting took place, The farmer further stated that persons had been stealing corn from him for some time past. He is very badly broken up over the occurrence, and wept considerably during his interview with the district attorney.Sheriff Steele and the district attorney will make a thorough investigation of the shooting from the two angles which are now in their possession.Citizens of Marklesburg and Penn township today informed The Daily News that Widner bears an excellent reputation in the community, where practically all his life has been spent, He is a bachelor, and a very successful farmer by occupation.No charges have been lodged against him, pending complete investigation of the shooting and theoutcome of Thompson’s serious injuries.
