He is fully conscious, said a hospital spokesman.He was shot and captured at 2:15 p.m. Thursday about a half-mile from the home of his sister. Mrs. diaries Mandy, of Wither bee His nephew. 16-year-old David Mandy. was in State Police custody awaiting arraignment on a cliarge of hindering prosecution It was Mandy who was spotted by Trooper Ransom Caola of Troop B at about 1 p.m. carrying a bag of food for Garrow at a point in back of the Mandy residence in Wasson Street.Searchers closed in. Garrow was spotted about an hour later at nearby Silver Hill Road, heading north trying to break the cordon, police said He was first spotted by a Department of Environmental Conservation officer, Hellary I a*Blanc Garrow . slightly thinner and with longer hair, was wearing a green pullover sweatshirt with Michigan State” lettering, a white Mickey Mouse sweatshirt underneath, and plum-colored pants.He was in possession of a sheathed knife and a loaded 30-30 Winchester rifle,U-Blanc ordered Garrow to halt, but Garrow fled in the direction of a ground scan h team of about six troopers, accompanied by a bloodhound.U'lllanc fired four times. Garrow continued into the woods. Searchers tightened the noose, follow ing a trail of blood’Ihey found Garrow a few minutes later, about 150 yards from where he was first spotted ami 75 yards from where he was shot. Garrow collapsed in a heavily wooded area.Authorities called for axes to cut a path to carry him out of the area.On the scene was Major David Ambler, Troop B commander, who said from his layman's standpoint Garrow was in serious condition with three visible back wounds, and was semi-conscious.Although Garrow was officially listed in good condition, his prognosis was guarded because of the nature of his wounds, hospital officials said.Two bullets were lodged in the chest wall lbs upper left arm bones were shattered.
