Al-ottEscaped 20 Years AgoINDIANAPOLIS—lt;«—A land' scape painter’s art career ended today when he was taken back to a jail from which he escaped more than 20 years ago while awaiting trial on a murder charge.Ralph Lee, 51, artist with a record officers said included at least 11 jailbreaks in 17 years, was arrested as he ate supper with his wife at their home south off here in Brown County.Indiana State Police and Indianapolis officers arrested Lee on a charge of escaping from theJohnson County jail here on New Years Eve in 1926. He was being held at that time on a charge of murder in the holdup killing of Abner Peek, Speedway City grocer.Lee’s record, as related by officers, started with a burglary sentence and an escape from the Indiana Boys Scool in 1911, whenhe was 13 years old.His present wife is a one-time missionary to China and Salvation Army worker who had engaged in religious work among convicts. He married her two years ago andsettled in the Brown County artist colony to paint landscapes.A week ago a relative of Mrs. Lee asked Detective Orville K.
