edy.0ysAppleton, Wis,—(U.R)—Less than24 hours after Glen A. Barker, 24, Shiocton farm youth, confessed the fatal stabbing of his former sweetheart, Helen Welhouse, 20, he was sentenced today to a term of 14 to25 years in Waupun state prison.Penitent and downcast, Barkerstood before Circuit Judge Edgar V. Werner to be sentenced immediately after he had pleaded guilty before Judge Fred V. Heinemann in municipal court. Judge Heinemann bound him over to circuit court and, he .was, brought before Judge' Werner in a few minutes.The-slender‘farm 'youth offered no comment. He answered Judge Werner’s questions in a low voice, explaining that he was 24 years old and that he had not been in any previous trouble.WAS NOT PREMEDITATEDDist Atty. Raymond P. Dohr explained that he had charged the youth with second instead of firstdegree murder because his confession indicated that the crime was not premeditated. Outagamie county authorities said Barker told them that a jealous rage swept him because Miss Weihouse told him at a Twelve Corners dance. 11 miles north of here. Sunday night that she wanted her picture back so she could give it to another suitor whom she called Vern.Beside this 'rebuff to his affection, she had come to dance with another escort.
