They drove to the service sta tion where McClain said’ an ar gument developed and he began choking his wife. After station attendants stopped the fight, McClain drew’ a’ ‘pistol ’ with which he said he“only meant to scare her.” The couple’s children, Jeffrey, 8, Lori, 6, and Kathy, 3, were located at Mrs. McClain’s apart ment, police said, and placed in foster homes.
