NEAR-BY NEWS NOTESHappenings of Interest in Towns and Country Around UsThe officers of Turner county discovered three cattle in the packing plant in Sioux Falla Aug. 1st, which had been stolen July 26th from Harry Bemebnan of Parker. The cattle had been kept in hiding for several days and then taken to a commission firm in Sioux Palis and sold and they were then resold to a packing plant there. The officers made the discovery just in time as they were scheduled to be butchered the following morning.A Chevrolet car belonging to Frank Zehnfennig of Canton was stolen from the streets in that city the night of July 30th. It was recovered the following day when it was found abandoned at Salem, S. D. When found at Salem the car had Minnesota license plates on it.Carlos Story, 53, of Peterson, took his own life July28th by shooting himself in the temple with a .22 calibre rifle. He died two hours after he had shot himself. Despondency caused from financial troubles is thought to have caused him to take his life. He is survived by his wife and two adopted sons.
