Indianapolis Police Have Leads In MurdersINDIANAPOLIS ' (UFl). - P°ljce launched an intensive investigation todayinto the slayings of an Indianapolis doctor and Isis wife in their downtown high-riseapartment.Homicide Detective Jack R. Ohrberg said burglary was listed as the prime motive in the murders of Dr. Earle U. Robinson Sr., 71, and his wife, Gwendolyn, S3. Investigators said they were beatenand stabbed. ^ .The bodies were discovered Thursday. We are checking out several leads,” said Ohrberg, who added quite a few” officers were pressed into the case, Ohrberg said he discounted intruders looking for drugs were responsible for the double murder.Tne bodies were found by Jerry L, Smith, the building superintendent at the Riley Towers Apartments in downtown Indianapolis where the Robinsons lived in a two-story ground floor unit.Smith was called to investigate when a sister of Robinson called to say she had been unsuccessful to reach the couple throughout the morning.Authorities said it appeared the couple had been killed sometime between 10 pjn. Wednesday and 10 a.m. Thursday, but the crime undetected until Smith used a passkey to enter the apartment to check. Blood had been spattered throughout theapartment and every, -room had .been..-thoroughly ransacked, Smith told authorities.■ Robinson was a general practitioner, but had been with, the Veterans Administration since 1935 and served as the admitting physician for psychiatric service at a.regional hospital here.
