Dan Ham man Slashes His Wife’s_ « •• •Throat Then Tunis Weapon to His Own—Both DeadA bloody domestic tragedy occurred in Boonville last Friday morning at about 7:30, the principals being Daniel Hamman and his wife Ellen. The husband cut the wife’s throat with a razor from ear to ear and then used the same weapon to slash his own throat. The woman died at once but the man lived until shortly after midnight of Friday night.Neighbors heard the couple quarreling and finally when the woman screamed they became alarmed. A boy, Arbie Bolin, ran to the kitchen door, peered in and saw the woman lying on the floor of an adjoining room. Hamman was walking up and down the floor waving his .arms, which were covered with blood. The boy fled. James Hart looked in a few minutes later and saw Hamman grasp his own throat with his left hand and draw the razor across with his right. No one saw the woman killed.The Hamman home is on east Poplar street in the northeastern section of the city and faces south. On the east is the roadway leading to S. N. Murphy’s home, formerly known as Fairview Springs. Hart was coming down this lane when he saw Hamman slash himself. Sheriff Stambush and Chief of Police Vincent were on the scene shortly after the tragedy occurred and proceeded to investigate. The woman was found lying dead in a pool of blood, her head almost severed from her body, A cut on one of her hands was evidence that she had attempted to defend herself.
