When Foreman asked whatbusiness he had with Mrs. Messier, Diehl said he replied: -1 wanted to get her to keep you off of me.”Diehl said that after flying back to San Francisco afler the grand Jury session, he rented a car at the airport and drove lo a hotel for about four hours sleep, leaving the car culsld*. When he returned lo the car, he said, he found that Hi* distributor cap had been removed.The 28-year-old witness, who answered questions rapidly but began to stutter after more than two hours of grilling by Foreman, said Powers and Mrs. Mossier made him the offer while he was working on Use Mossier-ranch at Galveston, Tex., in 1852.He said Mrs. Mossier and Powers lived together in or.c trailer and he and his former wiTe occupied another.
