MILLER POSSE KILLS SLAYERColquitt—Trapped in a pond area near his home Jack Stone was killed Saturday by a sheriff's posse which had hunted him five days in connection with the shotgun-slaying of L. D. DeBary.I Sheriff Felix Tabb, who led the posse, said Stone, ex-convict and former blacksmith's helper, defted an order to drop his pistol and shot gun and fired them instead at tin* posse. Tabb gave tin* order to shoot and Stone was felled by shotgun and pistol blasts.DeBary, a 60-year-old carpenter, was shot to death as he sat with his wife and a son on the porch of his home here shortly before* midnight of July 29. His wife was wounded but the son was unhurt. Officers then identified thekiller as Stone and started a day and night pursuit.The sheriff said Stone recently completed a state prison sentence for assault with intent to murder, and had been acquitted of a charge ot murder.
