Thev1 «■had barely commenced digging when they came upon the skeleton. The bones were all found, and were fair-■ ly well pi'eserved. Two teeth were j I missing. The heels of the shoes were intact and each had a heel plate of the horse shoe shape that was commonly used during the war period.Five regulation U. S. buttons of the “Eagle” type, and three iron bul-^ lets were found with the bones. The buttons will fix the identity of the skeleton as being that of a Union soldier.
