COMMITTED SUICIDE*Martha Grwnlnc Tcolc Strychnine Tuesday Morning and Died Shortly After.Martha Groening, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Greening of West Hanover street, committed suicide Tnaadaj morning by taking a dose of strychnine.^ The girLate breakfast with the family a u on t siX o’eluek ttndiaenwent Into an adjoining room and sat down. She had not been there long when she called to her mother to send for the doctor at once, that she wag ill. Mrs. QroeniDg, who thought the girl was suffering from a fit, summoned Dr, Foote at once, rue girl was able to speak when he ar-rived,tmd disclosed to him the fact that she had taken about 8ve grains Oi strychnine. Although there was no hope of saving the girl, Dr. Foote applied the stomach pump, bat to no avail, and she died at about 7:30 o’clock.Coroner Church was informed immediately and impanelled a jtrry of the following men: Chau. Fainter, C. B giroer, John Jager, H. M. Merrill. M. M. Perrett and H. G. Holloa. After viewing the remains they adjourned until tbis morning.Miss Greening made no statement before her death from which a due could be gotten explaining the cause ofthe rash act, and the family are at aloss to understand the motive. Thefuneral occurred from toe house yesterday afternoon.
