Jones just wanted to get home before his 10:30 p.m. curfew, but he learned too much about a burglary ring's plans to sell a cache of stolen goods, family members speculated Tuesday.That unsolicited knowledge may have cost Jones and 17-year-old Orlando “Lonnie” Curry their lives. On Sunday morning, the two Elgin teens were found dead, each with a shotgun blast to the head, in an isolated field tangled with rusting pipes and old machinerv in Elgin just west of Bartlett.Friends and family members theorized Tuesday that Curry was about to help sell stolen video cassette recorders, color television sets and 38-caliber guns at the behest of a new friend. Curry agreed to his first criminal venture for the price of some cash and a gun. said his girlfriend of four years, 16-year-old Sheila SlaughterWHEN CURRY and the friend got together, Jones happened to catch a ride home to meet his curfew, said his sister, 19-year-old Diane Jones.Theysaid. “He got killed just forgoing along for the ride.speculated that Curry was the target of retali-becausegoodsaboysthe neighborhood,” 20-year-old Yo-londa Jones said. “I feel it (the killing) was meant for Lonnie but they had to take Victor, too. I never thought this would happen.
