Attempted Hold-I p.evening, about 7:30 o'clock,two highwaymen attempted to holdup Mr. Heury Belser,of this city, near the Milton road croaaing, east of the city Mr. Beiaer had driveu to EastAiion, and *hen paaaing the acana of tha attempted hold up, ha saw the two men sitting by the roadside. On his way back be again noticed the men in almost the same place, waiting for him. He whipped up hie horae and the wen, coming out into the road, attempted to atop the horse, butwere unable to do ao. After pausing the would-be highwaymen, one of them pulled out a piato! and fired twoshote after Mr. Beiaer, but the bullets flew wide of their mark. Mr. Beiaer•aw the faces of the men plainly, and would be able to identify them, and thinks that be has seen one of them before. A thorough search of the scene of this attempt at robbery failed to find the men, and they evidently have skipped for other parts.L* s..- #1 -
