The shot from the 16 gauge pump gun en tered the cheek below the left eye and came out above the left ear Sheriff Robert L DeHaven was called to the acene by neighbors at Kerns’ request When they arrived, they found Luttrell lying in the kitchen and Kerns sitting in the grass behind the house, which is at the junction of Routes 693 and 600 about four mile* north of Cross Junction He lives there alone.Kerns was no' armed at the time and told officers where ha had put the death weapon It was in the front hall along with four other rillea and shotguns, about 12 feet from the body.Samples of the deceased's blood were taken at the scene to ascertain the alcoholic content Kerr.s suffered an abrasion over the left eye. w»hich he told a Star reporter came at the hands of Silas Luttrell He told the reporter that Luttrell threatened to kill him if he didn't give him a drink He also claimed that Luttrell had tried to choke him at which time he said he got the injury over his eye.Luttrell. who was unmarried, lived alone about half a mile from Perry Kerns. He was a veteran of World War II and had served overseas.Mr Luttrell s farmer, was the son of the late Henry Luttrell of Frederick County.He la survived by his mother Mrs. Emma Croaen Luttrell of Hagerstown Md two brother* Paul Luttrell of Cross Junction and Charles Luttrell of Winchen-ter: one sister, Mrs Pearl V.Marun of Winchester two half-brothers.
