They were fined, and William Freemont became security for the fines. Time passed and Mrs. Hammond, it is alleged, paid the fines to John H. Kidd, ex-city marshal, who gave her a receipt in full. When the present city marshal took the office he did not find the fines credited on the docket, and yesterday he commenced proceedings against William Fremont to compel him to pay the fines, amounting in all to over one hundred dollars. Ex-Marshal Kid, it is stated, says Mrs. Hammond paid the fi nes, and that he paid the money to Ex-Mayor Lyne, hut forgot to giveher credit off the docket. Yesterday afternoon Willian Freemont, Kate Swartz, Alice Oats, Lizzie Tilden and May Dean got out an injunction against Marshal Leedam to restrain him from collecting the fines, and Jndge Allen granted a temporary restraining order till August 9. As Ex-Mayor Lyne is not in tne city, his version of the story could not be obtained. Faris Hamill, the attorneys for Freemont et al., claim that Mrs. Hammond has a receipt from Kidd showing that the fines have been paid.QUARRELING LAWYERS.proceedings commenced against William Fremont to collect the fines of Madame Hammond and her girls, staid by Fremont, was the cause of 5 hard feelings between Attorneys A* J- Kelley and Samuel Hamill. The story, as told an Express reporter, is as follows: When the madame and her girls were arrested and fined, Kelley was the county prosecutor. As stated, the fines of both the madame and the inmates were staid by W illiamFremont. The madame, it is alleged, paid the fines to ex-Marahal Kidd, andwas given a receipt. Kidd turned the money over, but never made record of it. Kelley, itdid not get his costalike a ball. As gengine was stboy picked up. 1track, moaning, aering flesh.
