TRAVELED BY ELECTRIC WIRE.ar- --. q? . • ,- £S?a$^' V?X*yFK£*Benjamin Kenney of Gloucester Closed His Dangerous Feat With a Fall andNow is Lying in Hospital.GLOUCESTER, Aug 2—A foolhardy and very dangerous feat was performed early this morning by Benjamin Kenney, a well-known young man. He waswith two other companions, and while intoxicated, as he himself admits, he attempted to travel down Duncan st hand over hand over the electric wires.Mrs Peter Jodrey says she was awakened about 1 o’clock by loud talk, andlooking out of the window was astonished to see a man hanging on the electric wires, his feet resting on the coping of Fears block. He then proceeded to go hand over hand on the wires and succeeded in getting a distance of 100 feet, when the glass insulators which held the wires to the post broke, precipitating Keflney to the pavement below'. His two companions dragged him to a doorstep, unconscious and apparently dead. mHe recovered consciousness and walked down Duncan st with the assistance of his companions to the schooner Cecil H. Low, aboard which he slept.This morning he was in a pitiable condition, being hardly able to walk. Hisface was badly bruised and one eye wa* completely closed. Tie complained of severe pains in his groin and his hip.The police were notified and he was taken to the police station, whence, after being examined by a physician, hewas taken to the Addison Gilbert hospital.He said that he did the thins of his own volition, climbing the post and grasping' the wires, and would have accomplished the feat all right had not the glass Insulator broken. He said he struck on his face.His escape from death is considered remarkable, considering that he fell 18 feet on hard pavements.
