AbernethyTimes-Newsmabernethy@thetimesnews comGRAHAM — A jury deliberated about seven minutes Thursday before finding a man guilty of assaulting Alamance County Sheriff Terry Johnson’s daughter.:Comment on this storyTony Lee Woodlief,40, of Gib-sonville-Ossipee Road in Elon, was sentenced to the maximum time allowed under state law for assaulting a female.The assault occurred Nov. 18outside Emily Robinson’s home on Bass Mountain Road. Robinson testified that Woodlief punched and hit her inside his moving car before she jumped out to escape.Woodlief was appealing aguilty verdict in Alamance County District Court before a jury in Alamance County Superior Court.Superior Court Judge Rob Johnson issued an active 150-day sentence, the maximum allowed for the offense under state law, based on Woodlief’s criminal record. He received the same maximum sentence in District Court.Woodlief’s record included two previous convictions for assault on a female, felony larceny, felony breaking and entering and possession of afirearm by felon. The judge said Woodlief had 19 convictions in Alamance and Caswell counties over the last 20 years.“Sir, you’ve amassed a bit of a record and you’re 40 years old. There comes a time when a man has to learn his lesson,” Johnson told Woodlief.“If I get another one, it won’t be in Alamance County, 1 can tell you that.
