Five of the accidents involved personal injury to a total of eight persons.Most spectacular of the accidents was the wreck of a Cor- • vette sports car against the concrete-tiered retaining wall east of Arkville on route 28. The 80 mph crash, which occurred shortly after 2 a. m. Monday, caused serious injuries to the two occupants, both of whom were thrown dear of the wreckage before it flipped over after striking the east end of the wall.Harold J. Speckhardt, 23, of Fairlawn, N. J., driver of the Corvette, suffered multiple abrasions, a separated pelvis and possible internal injuries. His passenger, Armando Breton, 20, of Miami, Fla., suffered five fractured ribs, shock, possible internal injuries and multiple abrasions.- Both were reported in fair condition in iMargaretville hospital at mid-week. They were treated at the scene by Dr. Gilbert Palen before their removal to the hospital.A moment after the Corvette crashed, another car hit the same wall as the driver backed toward Arkville to seek aid for the men injured in the first wreck. Driver of the second vehicle, a 1962 sedan with less than 1,000 miles, was George M. Kelder of Fleisch-manns. ' • •Occupants of Kelder’s car had seen .the accident. George Jocelyn of Pine Hill left Kelder’s carto go to the aid of the injured. Kelder began backing toward Arkville, but lost control and the back of his car swerved into the wall. It was damaged so heavily that jt had to be removed by. wrecker.Miss Marjory Wickham of New Kingston, a passenger in the Kelder car, complained Tuesday of back and neck trouble, but said she would consult her own physician. Kelder and another passenger, Miss Mary Ann Slicer of Andes, escaped uninjured. Jocelyn had left the car before the second crash.Trooper Joseph Moore, who is carrying on the investigation of the accident, said that Speckhardt told him in the hospital that he was traveling at 80 to 85 mph when he lost control. Trooper Moore said {hat the driver is charged with driving at a speed not reasonable and prudent. He will appear before Justice of the PeaceSollie Darling after his release from the hospital. Kelder was given a summons for unsafe backing.Speckhardt and Breton were employes of the Grand hotel at HighmounL They had left Fleischmanns and were traveling toward Arkville. Kelder was also traveling toward Arkville, but was ahead of the sports car.Marks on and off the pavement below the Sigmund Hal pern driveway indicate that the car left the right side of the road, traveled the shoulder for a short distance, reentered the pavement and crossed to the left lane, recrossed the center and right lane, leaving the pavement about 30 feet fromthe wall. It appeared to have run up • the embankment at the end of the wall before flipping over.The plastic-bodied sports car was a total wreck. It had to be removed on a wrecker’s trailer.Triple Crash Injures ThreeThree persons were injured Sunday, evening in a three-car crash at the old triangular intersection of the Bushnellville road and former route 28 in Shanda-ken. They were taken to Kingston City hospital by Gormley's ambulance.Trooper Charles Bundschuh of the Phoenicia substation said that a car operated by Edmund Quend-neau of Woodstock had slowed for the intersection, which has a “Yield Right of Way” sign against eastbound traffic on the old route 28. A car operated by Gordon Young of Long Island stopped on route 42. Behind it a car operated by Leonard Waller of Brooklyn also stopped. A third car, operated by Cecelia Watkins of New York city, could not stop. It struck the rear of the Waller car and pushed that into the rear of the Young c^r.The injured were Ethel Waller, a passenger in the second car, who had neck and slight head injuries. Mrs. Watkins suffered contusions of the scalp. Juanita Biere of New York city, a passenger in the Watkins car, suffered contusions of both knees.Girl’s Arm BrokenIn another accident Sunday night a 10-year-old Brooklyn girl suffered a broken left arm when the car in which she was riding left route 28 below Phoenieiaone operated by Loujs Michael of Riveredge, N. J. Both drivers claimed they had to swerve sharply right to avoid collision.Martin’s car went over an em-‘ bankment and landed upside down in the stream.A collision damaged two vehicles on route 28 on the Delaware county side of Highmount Monday evening. A car operated by Moshe Chichura of the Bronx had stopped in the eastbound, uphill lane. It was struck from behind by a car driven by George Barley of Fleischmanns.Chichura was giyen a summons by Trooper Moore for stopping on the pavement. It is returnable before Mr. Darling.Richard Wilmer 4th of New Haven, Conn., paid $120 in fines last week Tuesday when he appeared before Justice of the Peace Sollie Darling to answer charges of three motor vehicle violations.Wilmer, who is spending the summer in Dry Brook, was picked up by state police in Margaret-ville while driving a car with 1960 plates and 1961 tab. He was charged with driving an unlicensed motor vehicle, with having no inspection sticker and with driving an uninsured 'motor vehicle. ^The fine on each of the first two was $10. There is a mandatory fine of $100 on the insurance count.Bloodmobile Visit Hours Are ChangedThe hours for the Aug. 14 visit of the American Red Cross blood-mobile have been changed, according to Chairman Mrs. Erie
