Supposed Piracy-—The sloop Fairhaven, of Providence, which left New Bedford on Sunday Horning for this port, fell in, when about six miles SSYV of the Hen and Chickens and ten miles SE of Cuttyhunk, with a schooner, having all sails set, and running pretty close to her discovered that there was no one on board.—tchtlsiSDlt;fctl\ve:ft:slt;clt;avdwPeiafThey immediately boarded her, found that shelad one anchor down with a short scope, and :n trying her pumps, found three feet of water n the hold, and on further search discovered hat she was scuttled forward just above the lopper. The forecastle was torn to pieces— :he bunks torn down—a hole cut in the cabin door, with an axe lying beside it. The cabin was in great disorder—all valuable articles were taken away except the quadrant and compass, which were found in the mate’s locker—the captain’s trunk was found cut open and was completely pillaged. On examination, the vessel proved to be the schooner Lavinia.of Alexandria, Dearborn master, with a cargo of flour, kiln dried meal, black eyed peas, yellow corn, and red oak staves. The crew list found in the Captain’s trunk was as follows :Charles H. Dearborn, Master.Walter A. Nicoll, Mate.John Johnston, Cook.David Babe, ^William Webster, Seamen.George Matthews, )Johnston and Mathews could not write, but signed their mark to the ship’s articles. The last regular entry on the log-book was dated July 10th, but a small book was found in the cabin in which was an entry giving the particulars of a scuffle between the captain and mate, and resulting in the loss of both overboard. There were also subsequent entries up to the 19th, and incoherent memoranda in another part of the book, repeating the story of a fight, c. The boat of the vessel was gone, and the gangway rail removed. The chests of the seamen were also gone from the forecastle, and the captain’s trunk had been broken open, and robbed of everything except his letters.— The opinion at New Bedford was, that piracy had been committed, and the captain and ruate thrown overboard.Railroad Accident.—The train going west, which met with so serious an accident near Schenectady on Friday last, encountered, says the Albany Journal of last evening, still further mishaps before it reached Buffalo. In passing the village of Seneca Falls, the train came in contact with a wagon, driven by three little boys. The wagon, with its occupants, was caught upon the “ cow-catcher” and carried some twenty or thirty rods. The wagon was broken into fragments, and the horses killed, but the boys fortunately escaped with a few bruises. The boys had been waiting to see the train go by, and, on its approach, the horsesbecame unmanageable and ran upon the trackjust as the Locomotive came along.
