Two Prominent Citizerfs Arrested on Grave, Charge.On last- Saturday:...] morning* the little town of Muldrow was stirred as it has scarcely ever beenjn. its history. The eicitment wHs caused by the arrest of two of its prominent citizens, N. J., Brogdon, va %chant, and J. F. Rogeft, local manager of the Pioneer Telephone and Telegraph Co.; on a charge of rap6 in the first degree, the prosecuting Witness being the littledaughter of John Coker, anotherof the town’s prominent citizens.The accused were placed under arrestv and later in the day gave bond in the sum of $3000 and $5000 respectively, for-,their apr pearance before Town Justice P. A. Watts, on Tuesday, the 29th; when they appeared, and waiving prelimnary hearing, were held toawait the action of the DistrictCourt in the sum of $3000 00 each.„ Because qf .the age of the metr accused, the age of the prosecuting witness, beipg now just past 15 yrs, together With the prominence of all the parties concerned, there is more than the usual amount of interest in the affair. If the accused are guilty of the offeree charged, then no punishmentwhich might be. finally meted out to them can be too severe. On the other hand, all parties should reserve judgment until the courts have a chance to 'hear and pass upon the case. Let it be said to:vV*(lt;the credit of our citizenship, thati the edespite the gravity of the-off ence charged, there has been no unfriendly demonstration. ; While determined that guilty parties shall be punished as the Ji w directs, there seems to be a desire upon the part of all that the few take its course.
