Goodman, defense counsel, indicated he expected to call about IS witnesses.The case is the first in Alameda Cmmty 1n bo bn^ort on a single plea of insanity (Friedman has already admitted the slayings) and the defense is being presented first since the type of plea places the burden of proof on the defendant.WIFE SHOT DOWNOn January 4, Friedman shot down his wife, Pauline, and their daughter, Marjorie, 4, and then turned the gun on himself. He recovered at Alameda County Hospital and was later removed to jail.Prior to the double murder and what he expected would be suicide, Friedman left notes saying that he had been brooding over persecution and oppression current in the world.
