Wood*i c/• ward, dentist, entered the room of a wo-i man known ah Mollie Woodward, at 1037 | Mission .street, between Sixth and Sev*, enili. The woman was partly dressed and was hitting on a bed. Woodward made some remarks to the oflect that she had been bearing his name long enough without being Ins wife, and drawing a rcvol-! ver tired at her. The ball struck just below the left eye, and ranging downward and sideways lodged in the muscles in the neck on the right side. Woodward then turned i he pistol on himself,the first shot indicting a flesh wound,and the second entering the mouth, causing instant death. The woman’s real name is Woodward, she being the wife of a man by that mime, son of a wealthy rancher in Napa county. She separated from her husband some time ago and look up with Dr. Woodward. He is no relation to her husband. The doctor was jealous of her, and wished her to marry him, and her refusal is considered the cause of his action. Woodward was a man of middle age, and of respectable standing in his profession. The woman is likely io recover, though the wound is very serious.
