Death Ruling Waits On Test Of BulletMONTGOMERY CITY— Coroner Alex Gardner of Montgomery County said today he will not yet make an official ruling In the death last week of Lloyd Morris Jr., 25, shot in the head after he fled police headquarters in WellsviUe where he was taken for questioning.His body was found on Krekel street not far from his home where officers had followed him. He reportedly fired three shots from his .32 calibre revolver and Police Chief John Whyte fired six from his .38 calibre revolver. Most of the shooting reportedly took place hear the city building, one bullet going .through a front window.Coroner Gardner ordered an autopsy by Dr. John Boyce, Audrain Medical Center pathologist, who said the bullet went through both sides of the skull and lodged In tissue under the skin. The bullet appeared to be from a .32, but both the bullet and revolver found by Morris’s body were sent to Washington for FBI ballistic tests. Sheriff Clarence Landrum handled that, the coroner said.Morris and his brother, a juvenile were in custody for questioning in connection with a burglary. Both fled at once and officers said the older man turned and fired at Deputy Sheriff Tom Whyte.When Morris was found on Krekel Street, officers called for him to surrender and at that point the death occurred.Coroner Gardner said he would not rule until ballistics tests make it certain that Morris’s gun fired the fatal ishot.Morris, a farm worker for Roy Popp, leaves his parents, a wife and child, as well as the brother.The body was taken to Louisiana for funeral services and burial at Riverview Cemetery.
