For some of the thefts, he is accused of having required his son to be an accomplice. Bolte, who is now in jail, also claims to have hau other assistance in one or more of the robberies. They have long been under suspicion by the police department. With hissuccessful experience in the work Bolte had grown to be able to carry out his plans with a cunning and keenness which left bat meager chances for detection. However, their invariable appearance at or near the place of each robbery sits ptciously clgse to the time of the theft gave cause for them to be placed under surveillance, whit h resulted in connecting them more closely with each successive crime.The police were handicapped by the discouraging evident lack of interest by the parties robbed, who, although acquainted with the facts as known, repeatedly refused to authorize the issuing of a search warrant nr allowing active legal steps to the same end. And it was not until the Hueser saloon robbery that the police department usurped the privilege of taking the matter into their own hands, even without the usual authority from the affected parties. Chief St bier himself ventured a rather hazardous step and ordered the search warrant after Mr. Hueser had refused to authorize it. Bolte’s sixteen year old son later told the police that he had been made by his father to get out of bed in the early hours of the morning and assist in the work. Mr, Waegener lias identified as nis one of the pairs found under the bricks in the cellar.The Hit tel Store.The Bit tel jobbery was comparatively recent. Theputty around the cracked coiner of the window was removed by a knife and the piece of glass taken out, leaving a hole large enough for theshoes in the window to be drawnthrough, Mrs. Bittel identified live pairs of the shoes found.IVrfilnipyer'M Carpets,Further search of the residence, made today, brought to light some carpets belonging to B. Gockel and taken from the Pohlmeyer Carpet Cleaning establishment last year. A rug belonging to John Bonicamp was also found. vII. Cl. Haessig recognized as belonging to his cigar store were located.Boon's Flexible Flyer.The little coasting slid belonging to a grandson of Chas. The police took immediate steps upon being notified.Chief Sehier, Officer Thrasher and adeputy proceeded at once to the Bolte residence, where the officers’ rv~ quest to look through the house was refused. Bolte, who was employed in unloading some cars at the Hawk-eye Lumber company, was sent for Officer Thrasher and his deputy stayed at the house and the chief return ed up town to arrange for the issuance of the search warrant.A Stock Boo in.For identification purposes the stolen goods were taken to the police station, and that place now has t'gars, whiskey and shoes stored inalmost every corner.
